The Fiddletown Preservation Society is a non-profit organization. Membership in the Society is open to anyone interested in preserving, maintaining and restoring the historical buildings, records and relics of Fiddletown. The Society has restored the old schoolhouse, which is located across from the Fiddletown cemetery, and has restored and stabilized the Chinese Store and the Chinese Gambling Hall across the street from the Chew Kee Museum. The Society also maintains the Chew Kee Museum.

The Fiddletown District is California Historical Landmark #35. Two notable attractions in Fiddletown are the Chew Kee museum and the old Schoolhouse. Fiddletown is in the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. The Chew Kee building is a key building in the historic district. 

The Fiddletown Preservation Society is an established local organization, active in preservation since 1964. An all-volunteer organization, it is dedicated to preserving, maintaining and restoring the historical buildings, records, and relics of Fiddletown. 

FPS has a track record of obtaining grants and garnering donations. Between 2001-2008 the organization received $460,000 to preserve the exteriors of two Chinese-related buildings in Fiddletown (Restoration of Chinese Structures or ROCS). At that time, Fiddletown's Gold Rush Chinatown was recognized as vitally important to preservation of the culture and history of California. 

FPS has won the California Governor's Award for each of the restoration projects it has attempted.  This includes the 1988 Restoration of the Chew Kee Museum and the 2008 Restoration of Chinese Structures project.
